Snapped two bolts right off! Ouch.

Looking at new air compressors now - I think we overworked the 30 gal after we added the tire machine to our garage. I'm thinking a 60 gal upright is more appropriate. Any thoughts on these? No problem for me to give it 240V.

The cylinder head on the old compressor. Snapped two bolts off! It's got quite a few years on it but I think we were overworking it.

I use a 60 gal IR compressor. Works amazing.

ah shit I thought you were using a gun to torque head bolts on a car or something.

I'll shut up now :)

It's alright - I was a bit vague on purpose to get more readers! Clearly it worked. I forgot to take a picture of the head with the snapped off bolts and the gasket hanging out the side though.

There is no replacement for (pump) displacement. Be sure to check the pump CFM and not just the tank size. My brother got a 60 gal upright husky years ago, and the compressor was way undersized. It was the biggest piece of shit I've ever used.

14.1 CFM @ 90 vs. the Husky's 11.5 @ 90

Interesting. That IR only goes to 135 PSI though, I like the 160/165 of the other ones. It seems like the difference is the volume, but we've also been getting by for years on a 30 gallon, I think the extra capacity of the cheaper 60 gals is good enough for the weekend warrior use we give it.

Ours is used for everything from die grinding/porting to painting and sandblasting. Hasn't made a peep in 4 years.
